By Dustin Plunkett, Class of 2016

December 9th 2014 was a long awaited day for the entire student body and faculty. The grand opening of the new Student Lounge, Student Café, and Dr. Alan J. Gross Student Resource Center finally arrived.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the newly renovated spaces along with food and drinks for the entire UBSDM family. Keep in mind this amazing accomplishment was due to the collaboration of our very own ASDA chapter including each and every one of you and the supporting UBSDM facilities and administration. These spaces made a tremendous improvement. New flooring, appliances, furniture, lighting, heating, cooling, technology, signage and a fresh coat of paint gave everyone a new place to study, eat, meet and relax. This renovation took two and a half years to complete and was worth the wait. Even though some of us may be leaving soon we can be happy to know that all of the incoming classes, UBSDM family and ASDA chapter will have this new space to enjoy and remember for years to come.

We would like to offer a special thanks to the UBSDM, ASDA, Dustin Plunkett, Ashley Nozik, Steve Colombo, Joe Kerr, UB Facilities Capital Planning, UB Facilities Planning and Design, the UB Facilities Work Order Team, Kideney Architects, Prentice Office Environments, Heritage Contract Flooring and the Allen Group. The renovations are a great improvement we can all be proud of. Enjoy!
